Triune exists to bring forgotten Christian symbols back into the light, and the Cross of Thorns is the one we started with. At its center is the Cross Botonnée, its arms ending in rounded buds, wrapped in the Crown of Thorns. We traced the pattern to the holy mountains of Athos in Greece and Moscow, where it is worn on the vestments of bishops during the holy liturgy. Most people have seen a form of it and never known what they were looking at.
Out of reverence for that tradition, we studied the pattern, drew it faithfully, and set it in sapphire and steel, carried onto the wrist for the first time, exactly as it has always been kept: the cross and the crown held as one, faith and what it cost, in a single mark.

The Symbol
At the center of the dial is the Cross Botonnée, a cross whose arms end in rounded buds, wrapped in the Crown of Thorns. Two marks held as one: the cross, and the thorns that were pressed into it. Faith, and what it cost.

We traced the pattern to the holy mountains of Athos in Greece and Moscow, where bishops still wear it on their vestments during the holy liturgy. It has been carried there in living tradition for centuries, recognized within the Church and by almost no one outside it.

For centuries the Cross Botonnée was woven into the robes of bishops and carried in mountain monasteries, yet kept behind closed doors and only seen by few. Five crosses in a single mark, one at the center, one at each end, for the five wounds: the nails, the spear, the price the Gospel was paid in. Wrapped over it all, the Crown of Thorns, suffering held against the grace that answered it. We brought it out of the monastery, onto your wrist.
